Spreadtrum chipsets power Burmese smartphones

The smartphone vendor MPT is the first and the largest telecom services provider in Myanmar, with 8,000 employees and a vast nationwide data network.

Burmese mobile operator Myanmar Posts and Telecommunications (MPT) has adopted Spreadtrum's WCDMA/HSDPA(+) chipsets, SC7731C and SC7731G, for its latest flagship smartphone models M40 and M50, which have been launched in September.

Premium-build smartphone M50 is powered by Spreadtrum's 28nm WCDMA/HSPA(+) /GSM/GPRS/EDGE chipset SC7731G with an embedded quad-core 1.2GHz ARM Cortex-A7 processor. It features a double-sided glass separated by metal frame design, a 5-inch HD on-cell 2.5D curved glass touchscreen, 1G RAM, 8GB storage, an 8MP rear camera and 5MP front camera. It is pre-installed with the Android 5.1, supporting dual-card-two-standby.

Based on the Spreadtrum quad-core1.2GHzARM Cortex-A7WCDMA/HSPA(+) /GSM/GPRS/EDGEchipset SC7731C, the entry-level M40 supports dual-card-two-standby and features a 4in 800pi × 480pi touch screen, 512M RAM, 4GB storage, a 2MP rear camera.

Having formed a strategic alliance with leading Japanese mobile operator KDDI and with Sumitomo Corporation in 2014, it plans to invest $2 billion and bring in advanced operations and management experience to promote the development of 2G, 3G and 4G mobile networks as well as a fixed-line network.
