EDA industry sees 7% revenue growth in Q3

Computer aided engineering has generated revenue of $666.7 million in Q3 2016, a 5% increase compared to Q3 2015.

Electronic Design Automation (EDA) industry revenue has increased 7.0% for Q3 2016 to $2093.7 million, compared to $1957.5 million in Q3 2015, according to the Electronic System Design (ESD) Alliance Market Statistics Service (MSS) report. The four-quarter moving average, which is compared to the recent four quarters to the prior four quarters, is increased by 3.7%.

Companies that were tracked employed a record 35,515 professionals in Q3 2016, an increase of 6.2% compared to the 33,430 people employed in Q3 2015.

Computer aided engineering (CAE) has generated revenue of $666.7 million in Q3 2016, a 5% increase compared to Q3 2015, while the IC physical design and verification revenue was $441.3 million in Q3 2016, an 8.2% increase compared to Q3 2015.

Furthermore, PCB and MCM revenue of $162.2 million for Q3 2016 represents a decrease of 0.1% compared to Q3 2015. The Semiconductor Intellectual Property (SIP) revenue totaled $720.9 million in Q3 2016, a 10.4% increase compared to Q3 2015. While, the services revenue was $102.6 million in Q3 2016, an increase of 3% compared to Q3 2015.
