Video Roundup of Tech Taipei 2018

Article By : Jonas Klar, EE Times Asia

Having decompressed from the IoV and EV seminars hosted in April, we revisit them. With video.

At EE Times, we’re not strangers to hosting various seminars, as evidenced by our Tech Taipei IoV and EV seminars held in April. Held as two separate private events in conjunction with Taipei AMPA, TaiwanITS and AutoTronics Taipei, seminars and demo sessions were held at both Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center as well as Taipei World Trade center.

With over 700 visitors from over 300 companies spread out over both event days, the crowd consisted of mainly engineers in vehicle and consumer electronics as well as IC and component businesses. The first day of action saw IoV seminars hosted by speakers representing companies such as Bosch, Cadence, Texas Instruments, capped off by a panel discussion hosted by EE Times’ very own Junko Yoshida. Special guests from companies such as Audi, IBM and NVIDIA participated in the roundtable forum, taking questions from the crowd.

Naturally, several companies took up the option of demonstrating relevant technology with booths in the exhibition area, with representatives from Cadence, Henkel, Maxim, ST, Dekra IST and Zeroplus taking time out to talk to us, on camera no less. With preparation varying from “none” to “very little,” yours truly set out to flesh out who’s who in EE Times Asia’s very first video efforts, with the full experience to be found on our Tech Taipei 2018 Youtube playlist.

Our day one video highlight came courtesy of Zeroplus Technology, as seen below:

Day two saw action in Taipei World Trade Center, shifting focus to electric vehicles from IoV. Here, proceedings were headlined by scintillating keynote speeches from EV manufacturers and suppliers such as Gogoro, Toshiba, Tesla, Rohm and Renesas. Having scoured the exhibition area of day one, we yet again approached the participants with a camera, a microphone, as well as several hours worth of interviewing experience in the baggage.

Resulting video highlights are courtesy of Gogoro’s Director of Battery Systems, Daniel Vickery, who explains Gogoro’s philosophy while also answering questions on matters such as cobalt.
