Thin film chip resistor delivers up to 3MΩ resistance

Article By : Vishay Intertechnology

The device offers a low voltage coefficient of 0.1ppm/V, power dissipation ratings from 150mW to 1W and 75V to 200V maximum working voltages.

Available in five case sizes, Vishay Intertechnology's Dale thin film PLTU offers a tight TCR of ± 2 ppm/°C and tolerance of ± 0.01% for industrial, medical, military and aerospace applications.

With stable film and performance characteristics of ±0.04% at 70°C for 10,000 hours, the device is optimised for precision applications requiring low noise and high stability over time and temperature. End products will include test and measurement systems, instrumentation, weight scales, as well as military and avionics guidance systems.

The PLTU provides a wide resistance range from 100Ω to 3MΩ, with non-standard values available. The device offers very low noise of < -30dB, a low voltage coefficient of 0.1ppm/V, power dissipation ratings from 150mW to 1W, 75V to 200V maximum working voltages and an operating temperature range of -55°C to 125°C.

The resistor features a high-purity alumina substrate and corrosion-resistant special passivation method (SPM) enhancement, and is available with lead (Pb)-free and lead (Pb)-bearing wraparound terminations over nickel barrier. The device is halogen-free and flame-resistant in accordance to UL 94V-0.

Samples and production quantities of the PLTU resistor are available now, with lead times of eight to 10 weeks.
