Flyback regulator operates at 150°C in 100V VIN range

Article By : Linear Technology

Linear Technology’s LT8304/-1 isolated flyback regulator generates up to 24W and produces 1kV output voltage in ±5% regulation result.

Linear Technology has launched its H-grade LT8304/-1 monolithic flyback regulators in operating temperature of 150°C, modified for high output voltages of up to 1kV and bundled in thermally enhanced SO-8 footprint.

With output short-circuit protection and no opto-coupler necessary, the LT8304 devices operate between 3V to 100V VIN range, with accurate input enable and undervoltage lockout with hysteresis, internal soft-start and loop compensation. These devices operate in boundary mode that enables the use of a smaller transformer compared to equivalent continuous conduction mode designs. This boundary mode is a variable frequency current mode control switching scheme, typically resulting in ±5% output voltage regulation over the full line, load and temperature range, according to the company. Several off-the-shelf power transformers can be used for various applications.

Using low ripple Burst Mode operation, the LT8304 semiconductors feature 2A/150V integrated DMOS power switch and generates up to 24W suitable for automotive, industrial, medical and military applications. The device also offers 116µA no load operating quiescent current and output diode temperature compensation.
