AVX TCR series capacitors have been upgraded with new case sizes, capacitance values, voltage ratings, operating temperature and humidity ratings.

AVX has announced upgrading its TCR Series capacitors with new case sizes, capacitance values, and voltage ratings. It also has extended operating temperature and capabilities in humid environments as well as MIL-STD-202 mechanical shock and vibration qualification.

Based on the AVX conductive polymer electrode technology, TCR Series capacitors, per the company, offer stability required in DC/DC converter applications such as in telecommunications, industrial, and avionics industries. Under recommended use conditions, they display a benign failure mode than traditional SMD electrolytic capacitors.

Available in three case sizes, EIA Metrics 3528-21, 7343-31, and 7343-20, with another case (3528-12) currently in development, TCR Series capacitors feature extended 4V to 50V ratings, with up to 105°C rated voltage, and up to 220µF capacitance.

Its maximum operating temperature was raised to a -55°C to 125°C range. Humidity ratings were also improved from 85°C/85 percent RH at 120 hours to 500 or 1,000 hours rated voltage. Standard DCL for the series is 0.1CV while values down to 0.05CV are available on selected codes. ESR values range from 40mΩ to 70mΩ.

TCR Series also features an improved base reliability of 0.5 percent per 1,000 hours at 85°C and rated voltage with 0.1Ω/V impedance.
The TCR Series capacitors are available on 7inch and 13inch reels with tin or tin-lead terminations, and have a lead-time of 10 weeks.
