Ansys is expanding its sofware portfolio to go beyond simulation and include systems safety analysis, reliability engineering and quality management.
Ansys Inc., engineering simulation software company, has acquired Berlin-based KPIT Medini Technologies AG, a systems safety analysis product vendor. The valuation of the transaction hasn't been disclosed.
Medini develops products for systems safety analysis, reliability engineering and quality management. Its flagship solution, Medini Analyze, provides wide support, including at the concept, system, software and hardware levels.
Ansys sees synergy with its acquisition with a combined Ansys-Medini solution enabling its customers to have one system simulation solution for the entire product development cycle. This will allow Ansys to pitch ease in managing system engineering processes as well as in performing in-depth sub-system and component engineering development in a single comprehensive platform.

Olaf Kath, co-founder and CEO of Medini, added, "This unique combination will help us to extend our reach into other sectors, including aircraft and energy, where Ansys is strong. And we will be able to work with our existing customers in the automotive industry to reduce their reliance on costly physical testing and streamline system engineering processes, while also improving the speed and success of their product development efforts."
KPIT, on the other hand, is expanding its portfolio into product engineering areas, including powertrain, AUTOSAR, diagnostics and infotainment and wants to "deepen its domain expertise," while continuing a strategic partnership with Ansys and Medini.
