The ML62Q1000 series offers ±30kV noise resistance, operating up to 105°C for consumer electronics and industrial equipment.

Lapis Semiconductor has launched its microcontroller series that integrate an original 16bit CPU core optimised for home electronics, compact kitchen appliances and industrial equipment. With noise resistance of ±30kV, the microcontrollers operate up to 105°C.

The ML62Q1000 series consists of 96 models divided into six groups, and inherits the power and noise efficiency technologies of the Tough Low Power MCU series. In addition to reducing power consumption during operation and standby, the ML62Q1000 series succeeds in reducing MCU startup power consumption at power ON by 10x (2.5mA peak current) with regulator circuit by using a smaller power supply capacity, reducing the customer’s system power load.

Adapting to environmental changes and the evolving demands of MCUs in home electronics applications in the rapidly growing regions like China and Asia requires a broad lineup featuring software assets and board design to support a variety of uses.

The microcontroller series comes in 16- to 100-pin varieties, bundled in five types of footprints like SSOP, TSSOP, WQFN, QFP and TQFP. A 0.65mm-pitch will also be manufactured. The ML62Q1000 line has ROM capacities from 16KB up to 256KB.

Aside from performance and specs features, the ML62Q1000 series incorporates three safety functions that comply with 14 safety items stipulated under IEC60730, the international standard for home electronics–in contrast to the typical 10 or less (Lapis Semiconductor study).
• Self-diagnosis function: Detects internal microcontroller errors through peripheral circuit diagnosis or temperature detection.
• Error detection function: Discovers erroneous data by detecting access to unused ROM areas or errors using the CRC calculation circuit.
• Memory protection function: Prevents erroneous writing to memory or the register.

This makes it possible to detect unexpected problems that occur in the microcontroller and safely terminate the device or perform a reset to return to the initial state, according to the company.
